About Media Studies
Study the media from a broad perspective, from literature, film and photography to the new media. This breadth wil l give you ample opportunity to create cross - connections between the different specialisations:
our Media Studies master's programmes offer you the opportunity to explore present
day media forms and how these are related to
one another, while at the same time investigating the roots of this relatively new field.

Job and Career prospects
Leiden University's Humanities graduates do very well in the job market. A master's degree enhances the career prospects of all bachelor's graduates, as does relevant work experience during your studies and choosing your electives strategically. Your career opportunities for the MA Media Studies will strongly depend on the specialisation you have chosen.
Students who graduate from our Film and Photographic Media specialisation have gone on to find employment in professions such as a film and photo historian, curator, critic or picture editor. Graduates from our Comparative Literature and Literary Theory specialisation have gone on to take up roles within journalism, in translation agencies, or as copywriters, policy - makers or editors at publishing houses.
You will also be qualified to continue in academic research and could apply for a PhD programme.
